Friday Food Tour 7.29.11

Hot enough for ya? As much as I'm sooo sick of the hot and humid weather, I'm even more tired of talking about it! I'm ready for fall and casseroles and chili and ... well, I'm just ready for cooler temps. Anyhoo, let's see what's up for this weeks' food tour.

Des Loines stopped in recently at Leon's Malt Shop in Vinton. Looks like a good place to get a breaded tenderloin if you're over by Cedar Rapids or Waterloo. Check out his review here.

Iowa Girl Eats featured a recipe this week that I am so going to try this weekend. Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries sound as delicious as I'm sure they're going to be!

I love potato salad, all kinds of potato salad, and this recipe from Kitchen Collage looks awesome. Try this Potato and Green Bean Salad with Dill Pesto - looks like just the thing for a hot summer evening.

And speaking of hot, (arrrgh - I'm still talking about the heat!), Ghost Chiles have arrived at allspice! Ghost Chiles rate an over the top 1 million scoville units, so if you can handle the heat, pick up a few and the heat wave outside will seem like nothing.

Finally, I don't know about you, but I always get a little kick out of seeing the Wienermobile driving down the road. I've always wondered what it's like inside and now we can all find out with Meathead's Look Inside the Wienermobile! It's pretty swank.
