Friday Food Tour 3.15.13

I've heard from our esteemed meteorologists that today will be a lovely day in the high 50's. Hope that is the case since it's kinda dark and gloomy around these parts this morning. I could sure use a 'don't need a coat' kind of day. Plenty of good food to go around in the Friday Food Tour, though!
I thought we'd keep the breakfast thing going with this review of TR's from Slaking Fool. I must admit, that breakfast sandwich (which is what I order a lot of the time when we are out for breakfast) looks awesome. And maybe one of those biscuits slathered in gravy would be good. Maybe I DO like breakfast.
It looks like Manon over at Des Moines Good Eats reaaalllly liked her visit to The Gramercy Tap! Love this review of the creative and tasty dishes there. Nice to read someone that enjoys their food as much as Grant.
Speaking of Grant, he recently made a killer corned beef and ate every bit (well, we shared some with friends). If you're looking to make your own Reuben Sandwiches for St. Patrick's Day, this recipe from The Fomaro Files looks awesome.
And speaking of Mr. Formaro (we're speaking of a lot of people today), his South Union Bread Cafe was the feature on The Des Moines Register's Datebook Diner this week. Sounds like the place for great sandwiches and homemade soup. Next week for lunch sounds good to me.
And ponder this... what if you had to choose one beer to drink for the rest of your life? For people that don't like beer, it would be easy, but for the people in the world that love beer (like us), that would be a difficult decision. Drinking in America put up the question on their Facebook page and the answers are pretty interesting. Check it out.
Don't get too crazy this St. Patrick's Day weekend!
