Friday Food Tour 5.13.11

Here's the news on the Food Tour for a rainy (so far) Friday the 13th:
This week brought some sad, sad news for half of the Iowa Foodie team. Alton Brown announced the end of 'Good Eats,' one of Grant's favorite shows. He loved the combination of food science and humor that Alton was so terrific at, plus the great recipes. Incidently, Alton Brown joined the Twitterverse this past week as well! You can follow him here.
Gino's (the original location on 6th) is featured on Distilled Opinon. We are long time fans of Gino's and really enjoy the laid back ambiance and the cool roll-y chairs and 'fireplace' in the lounge. And oh yeah, the awesome food! The wait staff is great, too (We miss you, Debbie!).
The hunt for the elusive Morel mushroom is on. I know this not because I am a hunter myself, but because of all the cars parked every which way on the side of the road on my way home from work! If you've been lucky enough to find some of the beautiful fungi, this recipe for Creamy Tarragon Sauce over Chicken with Morel Mushrooms from A Little Bit of Spain in Iowa looks like what should be for dinner.
And in case you missed it, Cleverley Farms has a brand spankin' new website! The site gives Larry a way to let us know what is happening on the farm and more importantly, what fresh, natural produce you can expect to see from him at the Des Moines Farmers' Market. He also tweets about what he's bringing - follow him on Twitter here.
Make it an excellent weekend.
