Friday Food Tour 04.04.14

I'm getting a little stir crazy, I'm thinking we might pop over to Omaha for the weekend! Any 'must eat' places you'd recommend? I've heard that 'Big Momma's Kitchen' might be fun to try, the food looks BIG. But if you have any suggestions, let us know! Even if we don't go this weekend, we try to get over to Omaha at least a couple times a year. Well, better get on to the food tour...
Grant is a big tea drinker, hot or iced, and I knew that he would appreciate this post from Slaking Fool on Gong Fu Tea in the East Village. Tea and snacks are right up his alley.
Loved the Fomaro Files' April's Fool joke! Actually, I hope he really does open a KISS Burger! Some of those burgers looks pretty tasty, and you can't beat the Detroit Rock City Dogs.
It seems like everyone who grew up in Des Moines is mourning the loss of the old Younker's store downtown. I know there were some good restaurants there over the years, and this look back from Chez Bonne Femme is a great read.
You all know that food is a big part of our lives, our WHOLE lives, as things we love to eat today can be very connected to what we ate in the past. That's why I loved this post from Iowa Food Blog on Pho 888 - a great connection to his past and just why we love food. Read it here.
Finally, opening day was Monday! If you have to ask opening day for what, we just can't be friends. With the crap-ass winter we had, baseball season couldn't come soon enough. And if you will be lucky enough to get to a major league game this year, Drinking in America gives us a little insight on what we can expect to pay for a beer in some of the USA's finest ballparks.
Have a nice weekend, hope I'm in Omaha!
