Friday Food Tour 2.10.12

If I was dragging a bit this Friday morning, that artic blast of cold air woke me right up. Sheesh, what happened to those balmy 45 degree days? I'm ready for spring. So stay inside and read up on these fine Friday Food Tour links!
Olde Main Brewing Company is certainly making their mark on the craft beer market. Des Moines is Not Boring visited recently and gives us this review.
This is a perfect day for some good homemade soup and Cityview's Food Dude is right on time. Get the scoop on which local restaurants make good old fashioned soup from stock here.
If you're looking for something a little different for lunch and happen to be in the East Village, how about trying the Olympic Flame? Distilled Opinion gives us his take on this Greek restaurant in business since 1988.
The Cheese Shop recently held their first Cheese 101 class where owners C.J. and Kari shared their knowledge and love of cheese. On Valentine's Day they will host "Chocolate and Cheese" from noon to 7pm. It's first come, first served (no reservations) and costs $20 per plate (for 2 - 4 people). More information here.
And speaking of Valentine's Day - it's right around the corner. Do you have a special meal planned for your sweetheart? If you're still struggling with what to prepare, here's my suggestion - Heart-shaped pizza with heart-shaped pepperoni! Serious Eats has all the details, but really, make sure he or she is a pizza loving person that wasn't expecting Filet and Lobster tail.
Stay warm this weekend!
