Friday Food Tour 10.21.11

A nice chilly morning here in the DSM. All of the allergy sufferers among us are excited for that first hard freeze to finally kill off the dreaded ragweed. I know I am, anyway.
First up today - you only have 2 more chances to shop at the downtown Des Moines Farmer's Market! Saturday, October 28, is the last day of the market and your last chance to get all of the decorative gourds you can. Oh yeah, and all of that good fall produce. Don't miss it.
I was so excited to see that top loader hot dog buns would now be available at the Gateway Market! When I was young, the lunch counter at the Woolworth's store in our town served their 'Frank-n-Fries' hot dog in a top loader bun with crispy grilled sides. It was 99 cents worth of wienery goodness.
The reviews are still coming in for Zombie Burger + Drink Lab! Jill from The Top Des Moines Restaurants gives us her take on the newest burger joint in town.
This weeks' Why Eat at a Chain Wednesday at Des Moines is Not Boring featured one of our favorite restaurants in town, The Flying Mango. I swear you can't get a bad meal there.
And to follow up last weeks' Five Essential Vodka Cocktails, let's move on to rum! We Iowa Foodies LOOOVE rum and I think I should have one of each of these Five Essential Rum Cocktails this weekend, just to be sure.
Enjoy your weekend!
