Friday Food Tour 3.25.11

We're still trying to shake the 'back at work after vacation' blues. Two weeks in the Mexican Caribbean can make you forget you even HAVE a job. I haven't even begun to go through the hundreds of photos I shot, mostly of food (hard to believe, I know), but hopefully this weekend I can start to put together a few posts for y'all to drool over.

Speaking of drool, my jaw dropped when I saw the latest post over at Des Loines. That sucker is HUGE. I'm checking my calendar now for an open Saturday to head over to Mt. Sterling.

Enjoyed The Pesky Diner's review on Gusto Pizza. We usually try to give new places a 3 month or so window to get the kinks out, but may have to forgo that for this place. Sounds like a winner.

One of my favorite features on Des Moines is Not Boring is their Why Eat at a Chain Wednesday. This week they stopped in at Lucca, another restaurant we've yet to try. We obviously need to get on the ball.

And I thought I'd leave you with a link to one of the restaurant/bars we visited on our trip to Mexico. Chuuk Kay is a huge palapa with an outstanding menu and excellent service. We had lunch there a couple of times and also enjoyed the Saturday afternoon happy hour with their house band from 3 - 5. The coconut shrimp was amazing. Yeah, I was wish I was there now.

All I can say is TGIF - here's to the weekend.
