Friday Food Tour 5.20.11

I'm getting such a kick out of reading all of the #raptureprep tweets that I'm late getting out this week's edition of The Friday Food Tour!

Earlier this week Saveur released it's much anticipated 2011 Saveur Best Food Blog Awards. Thousands of people voted and the winners in each of the 17 categories have been announced. Did your favorite food blog win? It's been fun to browse through the winners' blogs and wow, the photos are excellent.

We've sure been having fun listening to host George Fomaro and his guests on his radio show, "The Kitchen Insider." It's on every Saturday at 10:00am - they talk about all things food, drink and fun, celebrating good times in the kitchen. If you're out of the range of the station in DSM, you can stream a connection from KFMG 99.1. Check it out!

Eater.com recently asked Andrew Zimmern to let us in on his favorite hamburger joints in the Midwest. He mentions a couple of places in Des Moines where you can find a great burger - do you think you know which places? I must admit, I was a bit surprised, but I'm going to try them both very soon.

And don't forget it's the Iowa Craft Beer Festival this Saturday! It looks like the weather might not cooperate, but the festival is going on rain or shine. If it does rain, the Iowa Craft Beer Festival will move to the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Fort Des Moines. Tickets are $20 at the door.
