Friday Food Tour  9.23.11

It's Friday - yay! For the first time in awhile, we actually have a weekend with no plans. Looking forward to that. But let's see what else is going on in foodieville.

Des Loines headed to eastern Iowa this trip to find us yet another drool-worthy breaded tenderloin. Check out the review for Boonie's in Earlville.

So many local bloggers had great meals during Restaurant Week - didn't want you to miss this review from Des Moines Good Eats on a place we've yet to try - Bos, which is located in the Renaissance Savery Hotel in downtown Des Moines.

It's Oktoberfest weekend in Des Moines! Oktoberfest Des Moines kicks off at 4:00pm today with the tapping of the Golden Keg and continues through Saturday night. Lots of great polka music, fun contests, and of course, plenty of German beer. You'll find the tents at 4th Street south of Court Avenue. Tickets will be available at the door for $10 and include a mug and your first beer.

Another great beer event coming up is Peace Tree Brewing Company's Brews & Muse on October 8th. It will feature their great beers on tap as well as a couple of special beers brewed just for this event. Lots of music and a poster contest to benefit the Red Rock Arts Alliance is also planned. There will be some BBQ available and also the Gusto Pizza Co. trailer will be there. More details and ticket info here.

It's another big weekend of football, too - have you decided what you're making for the tailgate? If you're looking to try something new for the great outdoor eating experience of tailgating, here's 28 Tailgating Recipes That Score.

So, relax - it's the weekend!
