Friday Food Tour  10.05.12

Boy, talk about a cool down! I was surprised (well, not TOTALLY surprised) to see a Winter Storm Warning for northern MN already - and for 6-12 inches of snow. I guess I'll take the cooler temps down here! I hope you didn't miss National Vodka Day on Thursday, but if you did, I guess you better head to Martini Fest on Saturday to make up for it. On to the Food Tour...

We've had a couple of great dinners at the Lincoln Cafe in Mt. Vernon, so it was nice to see this great write up in the recent Radish magazine. We still need to try the pizza venue - it was so packed in there the last time we were in town that we would still be waiting for a table now, I think.

Nick, over at Des Moines Foodster, won some tickets to the Iowa Restaurant Assocation's Dine Iowa Grand Tasting Gala. He gives us his take on the event with some great photos, too. Looks good!

Have you been to the gigantic new HyVee on Douglas in Urbandale? Grant has, and he was pretty impressed with the store. Cityview's Food Dude has been there too, and lets us in on the dining scene at the new place. Read his latest article here.

Fall is definitely here, so are you looking for some new cocktails for this new season? I really enjoyed this article from the Des Moines Register on Fall Libations and Glassware. Check it out here.

As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - seriously, practically every company in the world has a pink product for October. So I'm thinking we should probably be drinking some pink cocktails, right? Drinking in America does too, so try out some of these pink drinks anytime this month!

Yay for the weekend.
