Friday Food Tour  6.22.12

Well, if you like to stay busy, this is definitely the weekend for you in central Iowa. The Des Moines Arts Festival kicks off today, that's always a great event. Or are you heading over to the Iowa Speedway for the Iowa Corn Indy 250? But seriously, the race doesn't start until 9pm?! As loud as it gets, I would still probably fall asleep. Let's just get to this weeks' Friday Food Tour...

Haven't been to Bistro Montage for awhile, but we've always enjoyed great meals there. In this post from Cityview's Food Dude, he lets us in on what's new at the restaurant, including their delicious new lunch menu.

We're really looking forward to the opening of Exile Brewing Co. in Des Moines. They're still working on the building on Walnut St., but it will soon be a European style beer hall. Get a sneak peek at their work in progress in this article from the Business Record.

Manhattan Deli has been in business for over 30 years, so you know they're doing something right. Des Moines is Not Boring was there recently and has this review for Why Eat at a Chain Wednesday. Good stuff.

I've been reading more restaurant reviews on Road Tips lately - this guy really gives some in-depth information in every one of his posts. Check out his visit to Sonny's Pizza Bistro in Saylorville.

And finally, if you're still looking for something to do this weekend... how about an Oktoberfest Practice Party? Paulaner USA, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the traditional German Biergarten, is bringing a traveling 480-seat Biergarten authentic to those found at Oktoberfest to Des Moines! The Biergarten will be set up in the parking lot south of Buzzard Billy's on 3rd St. The event will be held tonight, Friday, June 22, from 4 - 11pm, and tomorrow, Saturday, Jun 23, from 4 - 11pm. No cover charge and live music both nights.

Have a fun weekend!
