Ulrich Meat Market - Pella

When we lived in southeast Iowa years ago, we drove through Pella quite a bit on the way to and from Des Moines. One place Grant always wanted to stop at was the Ulrich Meat Market. Located at 715 Franklin on the south side of Pella's Historic Town Square, Ulrich's has been in business since 1868.
Ulrich's showcases all of our favorite smoked meat products, including bologna, summer sausage, brats and beef sticks. All of the products are carefully produced from Old World recipes and the quality is exceptional.
And look, the famous Pella Bologna is on sale! Grant was so happy.
They also feature a fresh meat case in addition to the smoked meat specialties - excellent cuts of Black Angus beef are ready for the grill. We had a hard time deciding what to buy!
You'll find a huge selection of specialty cheeses at Ulrich's.
And there is also a great selection of ready-to-go meats, including the bologna and several varieties of brats. Seriously, the choices are endless.
Several varieties of meat sticks are in the case - hot, smoked, bbq - all made in house. Plus, they offer some interesting types of beef jerky, too.
You may also want to check out Ulrich's freezer - they have pre-cooked frozen meals like Dutch Spice Beef and Dutch Spice Pork, Dutch ham balls, and more!
Our haul for the day included 3 rings of Pella Bologna, a pound of dried beef, lots of beef sticks, summer sausage, and 2 very large filets of beef tenderloin. We had one of the filets on the grill for dinner (it was more than enough to share) and it was delicious.
Ulrich Meat Market has an excellent website, too, and you can order products anytime online. But to really appreciate the smells and sights of this delightful market, make the drive to Pella and visit them on the square. Quality meats and great service truly identify why Ulrich's Meat Market is a favorite with many - especially these two Iowa Foodies!
