Friday Food Tour 8.10.12

Man, I am so loving these cool mornings! This cool down weather-wise has been so nice - I'd about had it with those 100 degree days. Especially because it's Iowa State Fair Day for the Iowa Foodie clan tomorrow! We'll have a bunch - our kids, grandkids, sister and brother-in-law - keeping track of a group of 10 can be very interesting. Can't wait for that Double Bacon Corn Dog.
Slaking Fool put up this review of Felix & Oscar's recently. We love F & O's too, their deep dish pizza is one of the best around. The Fool was posting some awesome fair food photos on Twitter yesterday, too!
The new Creme Cupcake + Dessert looks like quite the place. I mean, a bakery-cafe turns into a dessert lounge at night? Chez Bonne Femme gives us a look at Ingersoll Avenue's latest dining option.
Another new place opens today in the Western Gateway. The Des Moines Register gives us all the info about Exile Brewing Co. and what we'll see from them. Sounds great!
It was nice to see former Des Moines restauranteur Carly Groben win the Iowa's Best Bite Challenge in Grinell. Check out this article from the Des Moines Register for all the details.
And finally, it's almost time for Des Moines' Restaurant Week. August 17 - 26 you'll have the chance to experience some of Des Moines' best restaurants for a $25 price tag for one 3 course dinner (per person) or 2 lunches (excluding beverages, tax and gratuity). dsm magazine gives you all the info here, plus you can check out several of the interesting menus here. Can't wait.
Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks for the shout-out, Iowa Foodie! Crème Cupcake really is beautiful--a great concept and I can't wait to do some late-night dessert and coffee (or something stronger!).
I also toured the fabulous Exhile Brewing Company. Unbelievable!
Hey Wini, we love reading your blog and your posts for dsm mag. Glad to hear both Creme Cupcake and Exile will be great additions to the metro!
