Friday Food Tour 8.03.12

Finally Friday, and even more important, it's the last Friday before the Iowa State Fair starts! I'm a huge state fair fan and am quite excited that it's just around the corner. I can taste that first 9am corn dog and Budweiser already. So I guess I'll just head on to the Friday Food Tour to take my mind off the mini donuts, pork chop on a stick, fresh, hot chocolate chip cookies and other goodies I'll be munching on next week!

Grilling with Rich stopped in recently at one of our favorite BBQ joints, Smokey D's - read all about the great meal they had here. Mmmm....ribs at Smokey D's are sooooo good.

Cityview's Food Dude celebrates 60 years at George the Chili King and visits the new Whole Foods in West Des Moines is his latest column. Have you been to Whole Foods yet?

While on a road trip in Wisconsin, I had what the restaurant called an 'Indiana Pork Sandwich.' Yep, it was a breaded pork tenderloin - a good one, too. Des Loines has been keeping busy, his latest stop was at the J & K Market down in Centerville. Check out the review here.

As you know, I enjoy an adult beverage on occasion. Well, several occasions, actually. These Cucumber Watermelon Martinis from Iowa Girl Eats look like a boozy dessert almost! Definitely worth a try.

And getting back to the Iowa State Fair (only 5 more days!), I'm sure you're wondering what new foodie delights will be featured this year. Wonder no more, here's the list! I see a Double Bacon Corn Dog in my fair future for sure.
