Friday Food Tour  6.07.13

So, got any big plans for the weekend? We're heading into the summer season where there is always so much to do around central Iowa. Hope your plans will include some good local food and wine. Let's head on to the food tour!

Speaking of things to do, don't forget that Winefest Des Moines is still in full swing for a couple of more days. Tonight, you've got Sips & the City and tomorrow is the Grand Tasting. For pricing, tickets and more info, check out their website here.

As you know, I'm not much of breakfast fan - unless that breakfast is donuts, of course. Slaking Fool has talked about Hiland Bakery previously, and I have gotten a birthday cake there that was delicious, but after reading this post, I must stop in to try the doughnuts.

Iowa Girl Eats has another option for (a much healthier) breakfast. Her Tropical Pineapple, Mango & Orange Smoothie might even tempt me to have breakfast! Be sure to take a look at her recipe here.

Now, on to more crunchy food choices - Des Loines was right here in town for his latest post. Smitty's in Des Moines is pretty legendary as far as breaded tenderloins go - one look at these photos and you'll be heading to the south side.

And finally, Father's Day is coming right up, do you have your gift purchased? If not, I found this Stylish Flask Tie that will definitely be more fun than a boring old regular tie! That is if your Dad is a tie-wearing guy that enjoys an adult beverage on occasion. Too funny.

Have a great weekend!
