Friday Food Tour 01.24.14

We took a spur of the moment trip to Kansas City last weekend - had some good BBQ, ate at an old school Italian place, spent some quality time at Kelly's in Westport - it was so nice to get out of town, even for one night! So, in honor of 'getting out of town', I thought we'd feature some blog write-ups on some Iowa restaurants OUT of the metro. So, let's get at it!

First up, Road Tips has this review of Redwood Steakhouse in Anita, IA. We've had some people tell us we should definitely stop in here, and after reading his review, I'm ready for a road trip.

Matt, from Iowa Food Blog, recently visited Dixie Quick's in Council Bluffs. This place is featured a lot in different media outlets, even Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives has been there! They had brunch and looking at the photos will definitely make you hungry. Check out the review here.

Slaking Fool's been back on the road recently, so it was nice to see this review of his breakfast in Council Bluffs - also with great photos of yummy breakfast, you'll want to visit Duncan's Cafe soon.

Dine Des Moines was traveling in December, and she reviews the Publican in Chicago and surprise!, Dixie Quick's in Council Bluffs. It all looks quite delish.

And finally, are you ready to skip the 'polar vortex' and take off for some place more temperate? How about heading to one of Wine Enthusiast's Top Wine Destinations - Austin, Texas! Say what? Drinking in America gives us the surprising details on one of the best places to sip on wine in the US. I'm ready.

Stay warm this weekend!
