Friday Food Tour  02.14.14

Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you and your sweetie are planning on celebrating - and if you don't have a sweetie, buy yourself some good chocolate and a nice bottle of wine anyway! Not sure what Grant's making for dinner, but I'm sure it will be very tasty. So let's get on to the food tour...

One place we've still yet to try is Gramercy Tap - not sure why we've put that place on the back burner, but this review from Matt over at Iowa Food Blog shows why we should eat there sooner rather than later. That burger looks fabulous.

If you're in Iowa City around breakfast time, you should really stop in at The Bluebird Diner - this review from Road Tips gives plenty of details on why this place should top your list. The food looks awesome and it sounds like they really have some interesting menu choices.

I always feel kind of left out from downtown restaurants that are only open Monday - Friday - I mean, I understand the logic behind it, but I never get to try their tasty food. Des Loines proves my point with this review of the breaded tenderloin at Big City Burgers & Greens - oh well, maybe someday.

Wonder what's going on in the foodie world of central Iowa? Wonder no more when you read this Des Moines Diner post for February from Chez Bonne Femme - lots of fun stuff is happening, too!

Even though we're currently experiencing a bit of a warm up with lots of melting snow (hello dirty cars!), we still have plenty of winter left. The good news is that you still have a couple of weeks to head over to the Botanical Center for their warm and toasty Botanical Blues. This Sunday, February 16, and next Sunday, February 23, are your last chances to enjoy the local bands they feature, as well as some great food and beverages. Support local music!

Enjoy your 'lovely' Valentine's Weekend!
