Friday Food Tour 2.28.14

While Grant sits and watches a Cubs spring training game, I can't help but long for spring and opening day of baseball - hopefully it will finally be warmer then! I've said it before, I normally don't mind winter, but this year is just d-r-a-g-g-i-n-g on. C'mon green grass! OK, enough whining, on to the food tour...
Looks like we should have been paying better attention to the cool Osteria Centro dinners that Eat Play Love Des Moines got to attend - quite the menu and it all looks so delicious in those photos! Check out their post here.
And speaking of Centro, LOVE their pizza and now I know why - this piece from The F Files shows us why their pizza is so awesome and how it came to be the world-class feature on their menu. Wish I had one right now.
May as well stick with Italian food, right? pete + lindsay dsm posted a great review of a Des Moines classic, Tumea & Sons - read all about their excellent meal and yes, I'm hungry for toasted ravioli now.
Our last bit of Italian food news - we were happy to see the new owner of Chuck's Restaurant will not be making any huge changes at the DSM landmark - all customers will be happy about that, I'm sure. But do read the piece from KCCI here.
And finally, in one last moan and groan about the weather, I need a vacation to a warm, tropical location NOW - however, in lieu of that, thanks to Drinking in America, I'll pretend it's warm and sunny and enjoy one of my favorite cocktails - the Mai Tai! Mix one up and join me!
Have a great weekend.
