Carefree Patisserie
May 23, 2011 My love for cupcakes runs deep. They come in individual serving sizes, there are lots of different flavors (so you don't have any committment issues), and they're just fun to eat! On my last cupcake run, we stopped by a lovely cupcakery in Valley Junction, Carefree Patisserie.
Located at 516 Elm Street in West Des Moines, Carefree Patisserie has specialized in gourmet cupcakes, cupcake wedding towers, and customized wedding cakes since October of 2006. Sisters Jennifer Strauss and Christine Boelman have created an amazing 101 flavors of cupcakes - unfortunately they are not all available at the same time!
There are, however, always five cupcake flavors available every week during Summer 2011 and Carefree Patisserie features additional cupcakes in 4 week cycles. We got to choose from such yummy treats as Triple Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Pancake, Honey Roasted Peanut, Chocolate Raspberry Dream and Pina Colada.

Carefree Patisserie also features several specialty items like these jumbo cupcakes, perfect for special occasions or when you just want MORE cupcake, which is always.
Cupcake wedding towers are all the rage now and Carefree Patisserie offers cupcakes to share for your wedding dessert or a more traditional tiered wedding cake - or both! You can contact them directly for more information and their policies or to set up a consultation.
So, wondering what cupcakes you'll find when you stop in? Everyday flavors include Lemon Velvet, Vanilla Malt, Strawberry Shortcake, Tin Roof Chocolate Peanut and White Almond.
I tend to favor the vanilla cupcakes, but can always be persuaded to try any new flavor. What's not to love about cupcakes? These vanilla malt cupcakes even come with a little straw like a real malt. Too cute.
After much oohing and ahhing, we finally decided on six cupcakes to take home. Clockwise from the back left, it's Triple Chocolate, White Almond, Strawberry Shortcake, Honey Roasted Peanut, Vanilla Malt and Tin Roof Chocolate Peanut. All were excellent choices.
