Friday Food Tour 04.11.14

Is anyone heading to Living History Farms this Saturday for Grilled Cheese Fest? Unfortunately, the event is sold out (but good for them!), but as an added bonus, you can stop by and meet Grant, the 'Iowa' (and, as I like to say, the 'non-working') half of Iowa Foodie, as he will be on the 'cheese board' (judges panel)! Should be a fun event, and really, who doesn't love grilled cheese. So, on to the food tour!
And speaking of grilled food, pizza on the grill is sooo good - take a look at this post from The F Files - you'll get some great tips on how to make a tasty grilled pizza, and those recipes! All I can say is we will be trying several of them this summer on our grill.
I've always enjoyed our visits to the Latin King on Des Moines' East Side, and this post from Road Tips tells you exactly why - good food, good wine, a nice atmostphere - I think I need to head there soon.
Cafe Su is back in Valley Junction as the New Cafe Su, and Eat Play Love Des Moines checked it out recently for us - looks like they are just as tasty as ever - read all about it here.
It's always interesting to me to see other people's 'Best of' lists and this one from My Humble Kitchen is no exception. Some very good DSM favorites on this list and a good reminder of places we haven't been in a while! Check it out.
Did you miss National Beer Day on Monday, April 7? Not me! I definitely celebrated with a couple of brews. But if you'd like a little more info on why we even have National Beer Day, here's a great post from Drinking in America, Grin and Beer It: It's National Beer Day. Cheers!
Don't forget to say hi to Grant at Grilled Cheese Fest - and have a fabulous weekend!
