Friday Food Tour 1.17.14

January just seems to last forever, doesn't it? Thank goodness we're on the downhill slide into February, which usually isn't much better, but at least it's a shorter month! Sounds like I need some serious comfort food, which for me usually involves chicken and noodles and mashed potatoes. What's your winter favorite? Let's just dream of spring and jump into the Friday Food Tour...
Are you one of the Noah's restaurant faithful? We have always enjoyed our visits to Noah's, and Cityview's Food Dude pretty clearly explains why it's such a great place.
Another of my comfort foods - breaded tenderloins - Des Loines knows just where we should head to eat this Iowa specialty, and this week he's at Apron Strings in Mediapolis.
Have you been to Patty Pats in West Des Moines? Well, it's actually closed for the season until February 2014, but this write-up from Road Tips gives you all you might need to know about this loose-meat sandwich shop.
Looking for a new recipe to try on one of these cold, winter nights? I thought this recipe for Drunken Blue Moon Pot Roast Hoagies from Ally's Sweet and Savory Eats looked pretty good!
I'm all for any and all Girl's Night Out frivolity, especially if it includes a few adult beverages. So... how about making the adult beverages the whole point of your Girl's Night Out? Drinking in America lets us in on a fun new trend of Girl's Night Cocktail Classes - now we need somewhere in DSM to offer this!
Stay warm and think spring!
