Friday Food Tour 2.01.13

It's finally the 'big game' weekend! What will you be bringing to the potluck? I'm not much of an NFL fan, but I do like Super Sunday for the food. We'll be hanging out at our local watering hole with all of the other regulars noshing on lots of tasty treats! Anyhoo, what's on the food tour this week?
Well, speaking of the 'big game' and what you're bringing, how about taking it up a notch from chips and salsa and trying something different? George, from the Fomaro Files, posted this great recipe for pulled pork that would be the perfect game day food.
We're big fans of Jesse's Embers, BIG fans. We've been stopping in there regularly for years and always get a friendly greeting from the owner and our favorite waitresses every time we come in. So I loved this post from Brianne from BS in the Midwest on her first visit to Jesse's. All I can say is, try the steak next time, you won't be disappointed.
Another place we always enjoy is The Cafe in Ames. We don't get there as often as we'd like, but Roadtips was there recently and posted this review of their burger. I've had the burger there and it is awesome. His in-depth reviews are great.
I found this post on 'popularity contest' voting for Top Whatever Restaurants from Indie Moines to be very insightful. The constant pleading for votes on social media just wears me out. Taking an unbiased look at the most popular area restaurants was refreshing!
There is no doubt massive amounts of beer and other adult beverages will be consumed during the game on Sunday, so shouldn't you have a drinking game to go along with the fun? CraveOnline gives us the Super Bowl Drinking Games Guide - but don't go crazy.
Eat good food this Sunday!
