Friday Food Tour 3.22.13

We were over in Davenport this week, just to get out of town for a few days. We'd never stayed in downtown Davenport - they have some fun bars and nice restaurants! I remember last year at spring break time it was 80 degrees - yeah, not this year. It was freezing walking around! So, let's see what we can find for the Food Tour this week...
Loved this post from Cityview's Food Dude on great places on Des Moines' Eastside. We love Gerri's wings and try to stop in at Kelly's Little Nipper for a breaded tenderloin whenever we can.
Missing the weekly farmer's market? Well, now there's an online alternative! Check out this article from The Des Moines Register on the Iowa Food Cooperative - they offer Iowa sources for groceries and lots of other items.
If you're looking for a new resource for Des Moines restaurants, Eat Play Love Des Moines is a good one. They were at the Flying Mango recently and put up this review.
Looks like Des Loines was in Davenport recently, too. He stopped in at the 11th Street Precinct Bar and had a huge grilled tenderloin - check out his review here. Wish we would have looked at his blog before we left town, I would have loved to try this place.
One of the places we had dinner in Davenport was a great little Italian place, Antonella's Pizzeria. I didn't bring my camera, and I'm so sorry I didn't - the food was excellent and the atmosphere charming. I had Pasta Carbonara and Grant had Chicken Burgundy - the sauce of burgundy wine, onions and mushrooms was out of this world good. I'm hoping he can recreate it at home! Check it out if you're in Davenport.
