Friday Food Tour 6.08.12

Sounds like we're in for a hot weekend - better be sure you have plenty of cold beverages on hand for patio sitting, boating, camping, picnicing, ball games and what not. No need for dehydration, I'm just sayin'.
The Ultimate Guide to Des Moines came out recently. It's chock full of information on lots of metro area restaurants - and if you've been wondering where your favorite local chefs like to eat, be sure to check out the guide!
I could really go for a doughnut about now... especially after I saw this post from Slaking Fool on Topped Doughnuts in Ankeny. Red Velvet doughnuts? Seriously? I need to get there, soon.
A friend emailed me to let us know about the new Beaverdale farmer's market that is now open on Tuesdays from 5pm - 9pm. It's held at Beaverdale Park at Adams Avenue and 34th Street. Keep it in mind if you want to skip the crowds at the downtown market. More information here.
Also wanted to give a shout out to www.iowaeats.com. It's a great site to explore Iowa restaurants, view menus, read what other people are saying about your favorite spot to grab a bite to eat, and more! Get registered today.
And finally, I stumbled across these beer can covers earlier this week. At the beach, a picnic, tailgate - these could come in pretty handy! Cheers to beer on the sly.
Have a fabulous weekend.
