Friday Food Tour 2.11.11

Here's what caught my eye this week in the foodie world.
Foodily - a social network and recipe search engine for foodies - launched last week. Short for "Food I Love You," it's not only a huge online cookbook, it's also heavy on the social network aspect. This article from the LA Times includes an intro video. Check it out!
dsmmagazine.com currently has some excellent chef interviews featured. Take a few minutes to watch Tony Lemmo from Cafe di Scala and Carly Groben from Proof dish about their respective restaurants and dining in Des Moines.
If you're looking for a last minute treat to make your sweetie for Valentine's Day, how about these Red Velvet Whoopie Pies from annies-eats.com? I know they would be a perfect surprise for me (hint, hint).
And speaking of the heart-shaped holiday, if you've neglected to make your romantic dinner plans, you'd better get at it. The Des Moines Register has all the info you'll need including dining, wine, chocolates and dancing.
If you're looking for a really special Valentine's Day gift, check this out. Diana Bauman of 'a little bit of Spain in iowa' is the guide for a tour to the Andalucia region of Spain in May 2011. The itinerary includes tapas, private cooking classes, an Iberian Ham tour, winery tours and more. All I can say is "C'mmmmoooonnn Powerball."
Also, this post from Michael Ruhlman really hit home with Grant. Think about it.
Eat some great food this weekend.
