Two Saints Winery - St. Charles

We're off to another wonderful Iowa winery! This time we ventured off to Two Saints Winery in St. Charles, just a short 15 minutes south on I-35 from West Des Moines. The winery is located at 15170 20th Avenue in St. Charles, just a few miles from the interstate. The route is well marked by signs and is so worth the drive.

Two Saints wines are proudly created with only Iowa grapes in those lovely rolling hills of Warren County. They don't import any wine or juices to add to their wines, so the wines you'll find at Two Saints are truly an original taste of Iowa.

A family-owned business, the winery itself is beautiful. A nice tasting bar, plenty of seating in the main room, and a great patio.

You'll find lots of fun wine-related gifts to purchase in addition to their delicious wines.

Tasting at Two Saints is a great time - so many awesome wines to choose from! They range from truly good, dry reds, to light and refreshing whites - and everything in between! We sampled several and liked them all - it's so nice to have such a variety. They've won multiple awards with several of their wines and we can certainly taste why - smooth and dry, or delightfully fruity, these wines are top notch.

Two Saints holds several events year round including Wine 101 classes in the spring and fall, and "Hear it in the Grapevines," live music on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 - 4:00pm.

And this is truly a family winery - the owners were out of town when we stopped in, but their daughter, Emily, was handling tasting duties that day. She was very knowledgeable about the wines, answered all of our questions, and we had a really good time just visiting and swapping wine stories with her. That's her behind the bar.

When we finished our tasting, we headed out to their fabulous patio to enjoy a bottle. I could seriously sit on that patio all day. They have several tables for sitting and sipping your wine and these wonderful weird-shaped shades that kind of float out there. Very cool.

We enjoyed a bottle of the Espiritu, a lovely white table wine. Snappy and citrusy, it was the perfect taste for a lovely summer afternoon. We also picked up a package of Milton Creamery's Prairie Breeze cheese - one of our favorites!

The vines were looking beautiful! Wow, what a view from the patio, right?

And I just love their logo on the bottles!

Another great Iowa winery to visit, and you definitely should make plans to do so. We have company arriving this weekend and we're thinking they would love Two Saints Winery, too - and we would love a return visit to stock up on more Two Saints wine! We did take a couple of reds home - the Marquette, a fantastic dry red available in limited quantities, and Seven, another tasty red wine. Both of these wines are just perfect with beef, pork, or even pasta dishes.

Stop out soon to Two Saints Winery - and tell them Iowa Foodie sent you!
