Table 128 - DSM Restaurant Week 2014

For our first Restaurant Week 2014 meal, we had lunch at Table 128 bistro + bar in Clive. Located in a strip mall at 12695 University Ave, Ste 140, you will be so pleasantly surprised at the wonderful atmosphere and marvelous food you'll find here.

The restaurant has been remodeled since it's days as Tartine, and it is so much more warm and inviting. This bar area shows off their impressive collection of spirits - you'll definitely want to try one of their signature cocktails or interesting wines.

Really, the space is just so elegant and comfortable. The attention to detail for the diner is spot on, with a nice mixture of tables and booths, plus some patio seating is also available.

They were serving their regular menu in addition to the Restaurant Week selections, and if you'd like to take a look, it's all here at their website. But we were excited for the special lunch for two for $25 - and settled in to our beautiful table.

Grant enjoyed a pre-lunch cocktail - the Spyhunter. Made with Jameson Irish Whiskey, Yellow Chartreuse, mint, lime juice, simple syrup, and celery bitters, it was full of flavor and very drinkable. I admit, I had more than one sip. And the presentation - beautiful!

We perused the carefully thought out wine list and ordered a lovely bottle of Yalumba Viognier from Australia. Nice and tart with a bit of fruitiness, it complemented our meal perfectly.

For his lunch, Grant chose the chicken - and by chicken, I mean roasted chicken with curry, golden raisins, almonds, aioli, and organic lettuce on grilled homemade bread. Wow! Talk about a ton of flavors in one sandwich. He also had an argula and watermelon salad - lots of goat cheese, cracked pepper and a light balsamic dressing. Everything was so good.

I decided on the pork entree - Eden Farms roasted and pulled pork on sea salt ciabatta, a bit of mustard BBQ sauce, with a nice, crunchy fennel and radish slaw to top it off. The pork was juicy and that little taste of mustard was so delicious. I also enjoyed the Chef's Soup of the Day, which to my delight was a Cauliflower Cheese soup. It was so creamy and the cheese added just the right amount of zest to the soup. It was awesome.

We shared a chocolate + carmel tart for dessert - both milk and dark chocolate, himalayan sea salt and even a bit of edible gold! It was hard for Grant to share this, believe me. Perfectly presented, we polished this dessert off in no time. The mixture of chocolate and carmel melting in your mouth was divine.

It was such a wonderful lunch, we didn't want to leave. We just sat at our table for awhile enjoying the last of our wine and telling Chef Lynn how great everything was when he stopped by. Service was excellent, as well, even though it kept busy throughout our lunch and our server was working several tables. She was definitely a pro, and we didn't want for a thing.

Table 128 was a great choice for our Restaurant Week 2014 lunch, and we can't wait to go back for dinner sometime soon. Be sure to check out their website and the wonderful menu items and local vendors they partner with - the quality here is outstanding.
