Friday Food Tour 1.03.14

Woo hoo! Happy New Year! We've got some fun stuff planned for 2014 here on Iowa Foodie, so be sure to stick around and help us celebrate another year of food and fun. But first, what was the best meal you had in 2013? Where did you eat it? It would be impossible for Grant to choose, but he always compiles a list of the places we eat throughout the year. We only entertained at our house 16 times this year - way down from previous years! Must have been crabbier in 2013 - LOL. But let's get on to the food tour...

I've been enjoying the posts on The Iowa Food Blog - and this review on Table 128 was great. We have this restaurant on our short list of places we need to visit and hopefully we'll have our own post soon.

I'm still into reading the 'best of' lists on many food blogs and sites, and this Top Recipes of 2013 from Ally's Sweet and Savory Eats has a bunch of tasty recipes you'll want to try.

Cityview's Food Dude is still finishing up his 'best of' list for Des Moines eateries and this week he lets us in on his pick for Restaurant and Chef of the Year. Check it out here.

Chez Bonne Femme gets in on the 'best of' lists with her post on Ten Great Moments of 2013 on the Des Moines Dining Scene. I think we'll just follow this list all around town.

And finally, I don't know how I could have possibly missed National Bacon Day on December 30, but alas, I did not eat bacon on that day (however, I had plenty the day before)! Leave it to Drinking in America to let us in on 4 Ways Bacon Has Made Drinking So Much Better. I totally agree.
