Out for a Drink - GoodSons

If you're in the mood for a good cocktail, you'd be perfectly happy at GoodSons, a Martini and Panini joint in Beaverdale. Located just north of Urbandale Avenue on Beaver, GoodSons has been in the neighborhood since 2008.

GoodSons features several TV's for watching the game, daily drink specials and a M - F happy hour from 3 - 6. Also, on Wednesdays from 3 - 12, it's $1 off all martinis.       

With 10 martinis on the menu, our bartender, Eli, was happy to suggest a good martini to try. A mixology pro, he quickly iced up the shaker and poured a generous cocktail.

I went with The Cure, described on the menu as "a cosmopolitan with a taste of orange." It was nicely balanced, tart and very drinkable.

Grant went with the always classic Beefeater Gin Martini.

Prices for martinis are $8.50 for the 8 oz., $6.50 for the 6 oz. size. GoodSons also has several interesting beers available on tap and by the bottle. They feature local brewery beer as well, including Peace Tree and Madhouse.

For round two, I ordered the 'So Berry Good,' a Stoli blueberry/raspberry concoction that was a good balance of booze and fruit. Very sip worthy.

Grant, ever the purist, ordered a Stoli on the rocks, which he described as very smooth.

The bar was hosting the 1st Annual Beaver Fever 80's & 90's Dance Party later that night, but after two well poured cocktails, dinner was in our immediate future. Owner Aaron Milik stopped by to invite us to stop in and try their panini's next time. We're definitely planning on it.
