Friday Food Tour 02.07.14

Have you made your Valentine's Day dinner reservations yet? If not, better hurry, I hear lots of places are already full up. We tend to avoid the crowds and eat in on Valentine's - Grant usually makes us a nice dinner and we splurge on a good bottle of wine. Would love to have some King Crab legs, but the astronomical prices are too crazy for us! Well, let's see what we found for this weeks' food tour...
Slaking Fool has been traveling quite a bit lately and I've sure missed his posts! Thank goodness, he's back with a photo-filled review of Los Laureles that will get you headed there, for sure.
We love Italian restaurants, and haven't been able to visit the new +39 Restaurant in Ames, yet. Good to see a nice review though, from Emily over at The Dish On Des Moines. That bolognese looks awesome.
So, who doesn't love bacon? That's right, nobody. I was looking through some past issues of Edible Iowa and found this excellent article on the Des Moines Bacon Company - they do an excellent job of producing premier bacon and I wish I had some right now.
Does this cold and windy winter weather make you stay in and wish for great take-out food? Well, Dine Des Moines has just the post for you - check out For the Love of Take-out.
Since we're staying in for Valentine's Day, I thought I could at least make us a couple of special VD cocktails, right? From A Luxury Travel Blog, here is your guide to the Best Valentine's Day cocktails! I think I'll make one of each. Happy VD!
Have a fabulous weekend.
