Friday Food Tour  9.21.12

What are your plans for the weekend? We are heading out of town, but if we were here, we'd definitely be going to the World Food Festival. We've gone for the last several years and it's always interesting. Grant's taste last year of "Chocolate Soup" being the MOST interesting, probably. Check out our post from last year here. But whatever you're doing, hope there's good food.

If you'll be watching college football tomorrow, be sure to check out the latest post from Cityview's Food Dude. He stopped in at the latest reincarnation on Eighth Street, Jimmy's Big Ten Restaurant and Bar, and gives us the low down on the place.

It's great to see all of the new Iowa breweries popping up across the state. A new one close to the metro is Number 7 Brewing Company in Ankeny. This article gives us all of the details on the new place. We've stopped in for a beer and were really impressed with the clean, simple drinkability of his brews.

Another new brewery, Confluence Brewery, will open soon just south of Grey's Lake. Des Moines is Not Boring spoke with the owners recently and put up this post on the brewery.

It looks like the Downtown Des Moines Farmer's Market has really hit the big time. The market was recently featured on the one and only Rachael Ray's blog! Great photos really show off the market, too, so be sure to read the post here.

Finally, if you're looking for a unique gift for someone, here's a great idea - Drinking in America presents DIY Booze-Bottle Bouquets! Who doesn't love tiny bottles of booze? I know I would love it, anyway.

Have a fun-filled weekend!
