Friday Food Tour 8.30.13

Whew, hot enough for ya? I try so hard to not bitch about the weather, but I'm melting here! Can't wait for some relief. Are you eating lots of salads and cold foods? Can't think about turning on the oven - ugh. Hoping for more temperate weather for September! What can we find in this weeks' food tour...
As you know, the Des Moines metro has become a superb destination if you're a fan of sushi. Cityview's Food Dude clues us in on the latest in hotspots for sushi - Akebono 515. Check it out here.
Still finding more Restaurant Week reviews, and this one from Eat Play Love Des Moines was excellent. Love to see people going out for the lunch option - they hit up Bistro Montage and it looks delicious.
One place we've yet to try, but need to get to, Hoq, was also reviewed for Restaurant Week by Distilled Opinion. That pan-seared Iowa tilapia looks divine, I would have definitely tried that myself. Excellent photos accompany this review - per usual - we have got to get there soon.
There's a great new foodie resource that just recently launched - Matt Beglinger is featuring All Things Iowa on his excellent new Iowa Food Blog. Lots of info on different restaurants, locations, prices, all types of cuisine - everything you're looking for is here. Check it out and let him know Iowa Foodie sent you!
Well, Labor Day is fast approaching - and with it comes the unofficial end of wearing white without being a fashion faux pas (which is what everything I wear probably is). Well, Drinking in America comes to our rescue again with a great post on White Drinks Before Labor Day - I'm going to have to mix some of these up just to try to stave off my fashion faux pas (plural).
Have a great long holiday weekend - eat something great!
